Through the Eye, Liquid Sky (2013)
Once I took a journey...
Through the eye, in a liquid sky.
Wondrous sights,
Extraordinary beings.
Four houses on a quest,
My presence their doing.
Fading memory as if a dream...
Few images but these...

Originality in Translation (2004)
An homage to one of my favorite fellow artists in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan: Chinatutsu Aita.
http://chinatsuaita.blogspot.com/
Connections: The Art of Emily W Meyer and Youtei Kawamura. My work centered on people I connected with and grew to love while in Japan. A Shodo master, Youtei depicted various things he connected with, such as music, the earth, and his dog Windy with ink and brush.
I was honored to participate in two group shows in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. I was surrounded by incredible art and wonderful artists.
These pieces were done while earning my BFA (and BS Art Ed) at the University of Idaho. I wanted to pass on images that I found beautiful. I translated black/white photos of these sculptures (and two paintings) with paint and brush onto the canvas. My own sensibilities added to works of color and original translation.
